The Ohio Sickle Cell Advisory Council (OHSCAC) is currently seeking applicants for membership. Applicants must currently represent one of the following organizational or consumer categories to be considered for membership:

  1. A representative from an agency/organization that addresses health disparities for unserved, underserved and/or emerging population groups
  2. A representative from a faith-based group/organization or ministerial alliance
  3. A representative from a comprehensive sickle cell program (hospital-based) serving the pediatric population (under the age of 21)
  4. A representative from a comprehensive sickle cell program (hospital-based) serving the adult population (over the age of 21)
  5. A representative from a community-based Sickle Cell agency/organization
  6. A representative from the corporate or for-profit community
  7. A representative (President or designee) from the Ohio Sickle Cell Affected Families Association Support Groups (OSCAFA)
  8. A representative from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Regional Sickle Cell Project (RSCP) Directors Group
  9. A representative from the Ohio State Legislature
  10. A representative from an agency/organization serving the disability community
  11. Consumer representation from the parent/legal guardian of a child with Sickle Cell Disease under the age of 16
  12. Consumer representation from the parent/legal guardian of a child with Sickle Sell Disease in the transition age group (age 16-21)
  13. Consumer representation from an adult with Sickle Cell Disease age 21 years or older

All candidates for the OHSCAC should have experience serving on committees, boards, or organizations.  Such experience concerned with individuals with Sickle Cell Disease would be especially relevant.  Applicants should have first-hand knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease and other Hemoglobinopathies in Ohio.
