funds two grant initiatives under the Sickle Cell Services Program related to sickle cell disease, sickle cell trait and other hemoglobinopathies: the Sickle Cell Initiative and the Statewide Family Support Initiative.\u00a0 As a public health program, the Sickle Cell Services Program works to:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Ensure and enhance the availability and accessibility of quality, comprehensive sickle cell services and care for newborns, children and adults.<\/li>\n<li>Promote public\/patient\/consumer\/family\/professional education to increase awareness and knowledge about sickle cell disease, sickle cell trait and other hemoglobinopathies.<\/li>\n<li>Increase strategies to maximize collaboration, coordination and utilization of all sickle cell-related services and
